Quotes to Live By: Children’s Book Authors Edition

It turns out that children’s books are written by some, not only creative, but pretty wise people. I have gathered some of my favorite quotes from a few authors.

1. Mark Twain

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

Huckleberry Finn by Donald McKay & Portrait of Mark Twain by Ignace Spiridon

2. J.K. Rowling

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”

Harry Potter illustration by Jim Kay

3. Dr. Seuss

“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”

Illustration by Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) Did you know he illustrated his own books?!

4. C.S. Lewis

“Don’t let your happiness depend on something you may lose.”

Original Narnia Illustration by Pauline Baynes

Bonus Quotes:

There are always so many wonderful, inspirational quotes but, as I was putting this little post together, I ran across a couple extra gems.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” ~C.S. Lewis

“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” ~C.S. Lewis

“Anything is possible if you’ve got enough nerve.” ~J.K. Rowling

Do you have any favorite quotes from children’s book authors that I may have missed? There are so many! Share below. We all could use a little more wisdom and inspiration each day.

Happy reading!
